How a Global Broker Simplified Multi-Asset Client Connectivity with Rapid Addition

Introduction

A leading global broker sought to modernise and simplify how clients connected to different products across their electronic trading platforms. Operating across multiple asset classes, regions, and trading stacks the firm needed a single, scalable, high-performance connectivity layer that could streamline onboarding, make it easier for clients to expand their trading activity, and reduce operational complexity. All while improving resilience and ensuring a scalable solution to support future growth.

To achieve this, the organisation partnered with Rapid Addition to develop a unified FIX connectivity and order routing platform capable of normalising and orchestrating order flow across multiple internal trading systems.

Problem

The firm has a broad offering of electronic trading products and asset classes, each with its own tech-stack and bespoke client-facing API. Fragmented architecture created significant onboarding complexity, requiring considerable work to connect clients to each trading service or asset class.

This created a blocker for growing order flow across products, impacting revenue opportunity for the broker. At best, it slowed onboarding and created poor customer experience due to technical integration constraints. Internally, maintaining multiple APIs also increased operational burden and support overhead, while slowing the roll-out of new products and services.

Solution

Rapid Addition deployed its RA Platform as the foundation of a new client connectivity solution spanning regional hubs in Europe, North America, and Asia. The platform provided a unified FIX interface that simplifies client connectivity through a single, modern API to access multiple trading desks, while handling the transformation into the various downstream technology stacks – hiding complexity from the clients.

The new platform also simplifies adopting client-specific FIX specifications, making it faster and easier to onboard counterparties who won’t use the broker’s API. In the past, such scenarios were a blocker to new order flow, but now the broker’s connectivity can quickly adapt to client requirements.

The implementation integrated seamlessly with the firm’s existing infrastructure and communication frameworks while supporting custom message handling, workflow orchestration, and session management. RA Hub’s flexible plugin architecture also enabled integration with existing internal libraries and monitoring tools, creating a scalable and extensible foundation for future trading services.

Results

The new platform significantly simplified client onboarding and accelerated time to market for new trading relationships and asset classes access. By introducing a single, modern FIX interface, the firm reduced integration complexity for clients while improving operational efficiency internally.

The solution also delivered greater scalability, easier management of large numbers of FIX connections, improved monitoring and auditability, and faster rollout of updates and enhancements. With a unified connectivity layer in place, the organisation is now better positioned to expand trading services and grow trading revenues through a more seamless client experience.

Next Steps

Following the success of the initial deployment, the firm has extended the platform into additional trading desks, further increasing the value of its unified client connectivity architecture.

The platform is also being leveraged for new use cases, such as integrating real-time price streams from Liquidity Providers, demonstrating the flexibility of Rapid Addition’s modular architecture in supporting evolving trading, operational, and regulatory requirements across the organisation.

Use Cases

  • Client Enablement
  • Legacy Platform Modernisation
  • Performance and Scalability Optimisation
Challenge

Multiple legacy APIs across different trading desks created onboarding complexity, acted as a barrier to clients trading additional asset classes, and increased operational overhead.

Solution

Rapid Addition delivered a unified FIX connectivity layer to normalise client order flow across multiple trading systems with High-Availability design for improved resiliency.

Result

The firm improved its clients’ experience through accelerated onboarding and providing unified access to multiple asset classes, while also streamlining support and reducing the cost of maintaining multiple legacy APIs.
